About the Role
A dynamic and growing player in the global wine industry based in Stellenbosch is seeking a Junior Cost Accountant to join their finance team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate manufacturing costs, managing inventory, and providing general accounting support.
Key Responsibilities
- Review accuracy of stock counts for all winehouses
- Verify that the stock counts received are correct and accurate
- Analyse variances and identify reasons for discrepancies and report to the cost accountant
- 100% accurate inventory
- Accurate reporting
- Effective cost management
- Ensure compliance with company and external standards
- Production Orders and Analysis of Input Cost for all winehouses:
- Update POR’s in BC – ensure correct stock items consumed and produced
- Timeous processing of production runs
- Ensure correct costs and quantities are used
- Query discrepancies and follow up daily/weekly on outstanding POR’s
- Record keeping & comparison of prices of new and existing suppliers
- Compilation of a supplier pricing file (Costing Masterfile)
- Analyse finished stock pricing
- Correct and accurate price build up and margin calculation
- Accurate reporting of costs to ensure accurate selling price
- Ensure finished stock costing is in line with budget and previous financial year
- Bulk Wine Management:
- Create purchase orders and wine delivery in WineMS for bulk wine
- Ensure accurate quantities and costs are captured on WineMS for bulk wine
- Match Invoices to PO’s and Wine deliveries for bulk stock to ensure all documents are accurately captured
- Ensure Fairtrade documentation for Bulkwine purchases is correct and assist with info for quarterly reports
- Accurate bulk wine stock levels vs data on system
- Accurate reporting = wine prices / margins
- Stock Management:
- Ensure accurate reports irrespective of wastage on productions
- Report on costs prices for all input materials
- Current vs Budget and Forecast
- Assist with stock on hand and turnover days reports
- CoGS Analysis Compliance:
- Quarterly Stats SA financial questionnaire
- Timeous and accurate completion of data/information to be submitted for review
- Assist with ad hoc tasks and provide support across finance and operations as required
Requirements
- Financial Accounting Diploma or BCom Degree
- CIMA or SAIPA registered will be beneficial
- At least 3 – 5 years general cost management Cost Accounting and Administration experience in a corporate environment
- Experience in manufacturing industry will be beneficial
- Previous experience in Business Central will be beneficial
- Working experience in the Wine industry will be beneficial
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
