About the Role

The Legal, Risk & Compliance Officer role bridges the gap between complex property/financial regulations and agile software solutions, ensuring our client operates within all South African and international legal frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and negotiate SaaS, NDA, and commercial agreements
  • Provide day-to-day legal advice and manage external counsel
  • Identify and quantify business risks
  • Conduct audits of software products and implement mitigation strategies
  • Monitor adherence to PASA, NCR, PPRA, and GDPR
  • Manage regulatory submissions and staff training
  • Interpret new laws (including AI legislation) and report on their impact on operations

Requirements

  • LLB Degree (Admitted Attorney or Advocate with a valid certificate)
  • 5 Years PAE in legal, risk, and compliance roles
  • Regulatory Expertise: Deep knowledge of POPIA, GDPR, FICA, NCA, and the EU AI Act
  • Sector Knowledge: Experience with SA regulators (SARB, FIC, PPRA, CSOS)
