This role is pivotal in managing the efficiency of container cargo handling and storage at our Container Storage Hub, ensuring a seamless flow of goods within the shipping ecosystem. Key Responsibilities and Duties: Container Tracking & Documentation: Record and verify container numbers, seal numbers, types, and statuses (empty/full) for all incoming and outgoing units. Physical Inspections: Inspect containers for damages (e.g., holes, dents, broken doors) and report findings to management, including taking photographs as necessary. Gate/Yard Operations: Process Equipment Interchange Reports (EIR) for truck drivers, ensuring proper documentation for gate-in and gate-out movements. System Updates: Input container movements, locations, and damage reports into the Terminal Operating System (TOS) in real-time. Stock Management: Ensure containers are loaded/unloaded in accordance with FIFO (First In/First Out) procedures. Staging & Safety Compliance: Ensure containers are stacked safely and correctly, segregating damaged containers into designated areas. Maintenance Support: Monitor container cleaning (washbay) or reefer (refrigerated container) pre-trips. General Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working area in the yard. Requirements and Qualifications: Education: A matriculation qualification is essential. Transportation: Candidates must have their own means of transportation to commute to work, with a personal vehicle highly preferred. Experience: Previous experience in logistics, warehouse operations, container terminal operations, or as a forklift operator is often advantageous. Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and familiarity with TOS (Terminal Operating Systems) or inventory tracking software. Physical Fitness: Ability to work outdoors, stand/walk for extended periods, climb on top of containers, and lift heavy items. Attention to Detail: High accuracy in recording data, such as container numbers and damage reports. Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for liaising with truck drivers, crane operators, and management. Shift Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet vessel turnaround targets. Working Environment: Exposure to Elements: The role is primarily outdoors and requires working in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. Fast-Paced: The environment is high-pressure and deadline-driven. Safety Gear: Strict adherence to PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) policies is required, including high-visibility vests, hard hats, and safety shoes.
