Job Description:

  • Research and develop new composite materials, products, and manufacturing processes
  • Design and refine composite structures and production solutions
  • Produce 2D drawings and 3D CAD models using SolidWorks
  • Conduct feasibility studies, technical evaluations, and cost-benefit analyses
  • Manage prototype development, testing, and validation activities
  • Analyse test results and support the standardisation of new processes
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams on material and technology development
  • Support supplier selection, material sourcing, and manufacturing improvements
  • Maintain technical documentation, BOMs, and engineering reports
  • Assist with quality improvements, design changes, and production challenges
  • Support the implementation of new technologies into manufacturing operations

Skills & Experience:

  • 5–10 years’ experience in composites, advanced materials, or manufacturing engineering
  • Experience within industrial, automotive, aerospace, or related manufacturing environments
  • Strong understanding of composite materials, manufacturing methods, and production processes
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, MS Office, and MS Project
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach
  • Commercial awareness, including exposure to costing and ROI assessments
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Detail-oriented, adaptable, and solutions-driven

Qualifications:

  • Diploma (NQF 6) in Engineering or a related field
  • BTech or BEng (NQF 7) preferred
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel between sites as required
