Job Overview
This is a senior-level, hands-on role responsible for managing project finances from inception through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered within budget while maintaining strong commercial controls and financial oversight.
The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, contractors, consultants, and senior stakeholders across a portfolio of active projects ranging from residential refurbishments and maintenance upgrades to larger capital development initiatives.
This opportunity is ideal for a Quantity Surveyor who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys managing multiple projects simultaneously, and has a proven track record in cost management, budgeting, and project financial performance.
Requirements: Please be advised that this is a temporary contract position and only candidates who can start immediately will be considered for the position
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying (NQF Level 7).
- Minimum 5 years’ Quantity Surveying experience within construction, property development, residential renovations, or refurbishment projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong background in budgeting, cost control, procurement, and project financial management.

Key Responsibilities
Commercial Management & Cost Control
- Prepare, manage, and monitor project budgets.
- Maintain full cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage project variations, value engineering initiatives, and budget reconciliations.
- Monitor project expenditure and identify potential financial risks.
- Ensure projects remain aligned with approved budgets and scope.
Procurement & Contract Administration
- Manage procurement processes for contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
- Review quotations and ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Oversee purchase orders and procurement documentation.
- Maintain accurate records and tracking of procurement activities.
Variations & Additional Works
- Cost, track, and manage all project variations and extras.
- Coordinate approvals with relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure all changes are properly documented and financially controlled.
Payments & Financial Administration
- Review and process contractor payment claims.
- Verify completed work against approved orders and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance requirements are met before final payments are released.
- Resolve payment queries and ensure timely processing.
Project Planning & Delivery
- Support project scheduling, cashflow forecasting, and progress monitoring.
- Identify project risks and potential delays.
- Contribute to the successful delivery of projects within budget and agreed timelines.
Feasibility & Reporting
- Assist with feasibility studies for proposed developments and upgrades.
- Provide financial analysis and forecasting on project viability.
- Prepare commercial reports and provide regular project performance updates.
