About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and personable Assistant Lodge Manager to join a small 5-star team in Zululand, KwaZuluNatal. This is an excellent opportunity for a hospitality professional to gain hands-on management experience across all aspects of lodge operations while delivering exceptional guest service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all daily tasks surrounding guest experience, administration, camp management, and team leadership
  • Host guests, manage check-ins/checkouts, liaise with reservations, and communicate guest preferences to the team
  • Serve meals and drinks, facilitate game drives and external activities
  • Manage daily stock, guest documentation, invoicing, and reservations system updates
  • Conduct room and camp checks, identify maintenance issues, and ensure lodge readiness
  • Lead morning meetings, enforce codes of conduct, train staff, assign duties/shifts, and manage discipline
  • Create and maintain guest service SOPs across housekeeping, bar, aesthetics, and guest delights
  • Train and monitor 5-star service standards in food & beverage departments
  • Support HR functions including disciplinary hearings, warnings, and staff conduct in coordination with owners and operations manager
  • Stand in for Lodge Manager during days off

Requirements

  • Hospitality Degree or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 2 years entry-level management experience (ideally in a 5-star environment)
  • Fluent English
  • Strong, friendly personality able to host guests and command respect
  • Strong administration skills and organisational ability
  • Prior management experience and maturity to act as Lodge Manager when required

Salary & Benefits

  • R13,000 – R15,000 DOE
  • Location: Zululand, KZN (candidates with roots/ties to the region preferred)
  • Accommodation: Small flat with private room and bathroom, meals while on duty
  • Schedule: Approx. 3 weeks on / 1 week off
  • Leave: 6 days off per month + 1 day in lieu of public holidays worked, 16 days annual leave
