Winding Engine Driver
About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Winding Engine Driver to join our mining operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of mine winders, ensuring the secure transport of personnel, materials, and ore in compliance with all DMRE and MHSA regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate AC/DC Koepe or drum winders according to legal and site procedures
- Conduct pre-operational checks, safety tests, and equipment inspections
- Monitor winder performance, including speed, braking systems, depth indicators, and load conditions
- Maintain clear communication with banksmen, onsetters, and shaft personnel
- Record accurate logbook entries and operational data
- Report equipment faults, abnormalities, and safety concerns immediately
- Participate in safety meetings, audits, and compliance inspections
- Uphold all SHEQ standards and contribute to a zero-harm environment
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 11 / NQF Level 4
- Valid Winding Engine Driver Certificate issued by the DMRE
- Minimum 10 years’ experience operating Koepe or drum winders
- Must have operated a winder within the last 2 years
- Strong understanding of MHSA and shaft signaling systems
- Clear criminal record
