About the Role
As our Executive Housekeeper, you are the guardian of sparkle behind the scenes making sure every corner shines, every room tells a story, and every guest walks into perfection at Mama Shelter Residences & Hotel I Cape Town. You lead with pride, structure, and heart, building a team that delivers excellence effortlessly.
Key Responsibilities
- Housekeeping Boss: Own the entire housekeeping and laundry operation — setting the standard, driving consistency, and ensuring flawless execution every single day.
- Quality & Detail: Ensure rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces are always spotless, styled, and ready to impress — no detail missed.
- Team Leader & Culture Builder: Lead, inspire, and develop your housekeeping team into confident, high-performing Mama stars.
- Operations & Planning Pro: Plan daily operations based on occupancy and business needs — from room allocations to deep cleans and special projects.
- Inspection Queen/King: Drive a strong inspection culture — ensuring all rooms and spaces meet Mama’s standards before guests walk in.
- Systems & Process Expert: Implement and maintain housekeeping standards, SOPs, and safety procedures across all areas.
- Cost & Stock Controller: Manage linen, uniforms, chemicals, and supplies — keeping stock levels right while controlling costs.
- Facilities & Maintenance Spotter: Identify maintenance needs and work closely with Engineering to keep Mama in perfect shape.
- Safety & Hygiene Champion: Ensure the highest standards of hygiene, chemical safety, and health & safety compliance at all times.
- Performance Driver: Monitor team performance, productivity, and quality — and continuously improve standards.
- Training & Development Leader: Train, coach, and upskill your team — building knowledge, confidence, and consistency across the department.
Requirements
You bring 5–7 years’ experience as an Executive Housekeeper within hospitality. You’re a confident leader who can manage, motivate, and develop teams. You understand housekeeping systems, standards, and operations inside out. You’re highly organised, detail-driven, and proactive. You’re confident using systems like OPERA and Microsoft Office. You have strong knowledge of chemical safety, hygiene standards, and compliance.
Qualifications
Hospitality qualification (desirable). Pre-opening or lifestyle hotel experience (desirable).
