About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Backup Trails Guide to join our pioneering conservation and rewilding project in Zululand. As a key member of our team, you will deliver safe and immersive bush experiences while sharing your genuine enthusiasm for wildlife, conservation, and the natural environment with guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate guided bush walks and game drives, ensuring guest safety while delivering informative and engaging wildlife experiences
- Support the Lead Trails Guide during walking safaris
- Interpret the natural environment for guests, sharing knowledge of wildlife behaviour, ecology, tracking, and conservation
- Maintain safari equipment to ensure they remain in excellent working condition and comply with safety standards
- Assist with duties around the lodge and reserve as needed
Requirements
- Minimum FGASA NQF2 qualification
- Backup/Apprentice Trails qualification, with the intention of attaining Lead Trails Rifle competency
- Valid First Aid certification
- Previous guiding experience in a Big Five reserve environment
- Strong knowledge of bushveld ecology, wildlife behaviour, and tracking
- Excellent guest interaction and interpretation skills
