About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Structural Engineer to join our client’s team in Cape Town. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing, analysing, and evaluating structures to ensure their safety, reliability, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyse structures to ensure they are safe, reliable, and compliant with relevant codes and regulations.
- Create detailed structural drawings and specifications using CAD software.
- Perform calculations and simulations to assess structural stability and integrity.
- Ensure compliance with relevant building codes and regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and construction teams.
- Attend site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and provide technical guidance.
- Prepare reports and documentation for project files.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PrEng) certification or working towards certification.
- Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes, and standards.
- At least 5 years of experience in the design and detailing of structures.
- Experience with structural analysis and design software; Sofistik FEM preferred.
- Proficiency in Revit and other design software/draughting packages.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Experience working on a variety of projects, such as residential, commercial, and industrial.
- Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and techniques.
- Experience in managing a design team.
