About the Role
Our client, a leader in the stainless steel fabrication and manufacturing industry, is seeking to employ a technically competent Boilermaker to their team based in Benoni, Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating specialized vessels to meet drawing and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret manufacturing drawings.
- Mark out templates for cutting and development.
- Fabricate required vessel parts.
- Roll and form vessels as required.
- Fit up vessels and parts.
- Fit and Form jackets and limpet coils.
- Build and fit vessel mixers.
- Complete all boilermaker fabrication from start to finish on specialized vessels.
- Coordinate parts with the material planner.
- Coordinate machine utilization with preparation shop and assembly shop supervisors.
- Lead and support boilermaker assistants, general assistants, polishers, welder as required.
- Reports daily and weekly to the production supervisor and/ or production manager.
Requirements
- Trade Test or Technical Diploma is an advantage.
- Supervisory qualification is an advantage.
- Minimum 8 years work experience with a proven track record in a fabrication facility is essential.
- Knowledge of the OHS Act is required.
- Knowledge of more than one official language is an advantage.
- Experience with all facets of steel fabrication.
- Knowledge of welding procedures and/or codes.
Preferred Knowledge required (Machinery and fabrication processes)
- CNC plasma / Guillotine cutting.
- Press brake bending.
- Profile forming.
- Conventional plate / Pipe rolling.
- Radial drilling.
- Drill press operation.
- TIG / MIG welding.
- Manual plasma cutting.
- Overhead crane operation.
- Forklift operation.
