Port Elizabeth: Junior Bookkeeper

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Junior Bookkeeper to join our team in Port Elizabeth. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing subsidiary accounts, and performing various bookkeeping functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions by setting up accounts, posting transactions, and ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
  • Manage subsidiary accounts through the verification, allocation, and posting of transactions.
  • Reconcile entries to ensure subsidiary accounts are balanced and accurate.
  • Maintain the general ledger by transferring summaries from subsidiary accounts.
  • Assist in defining various product and operational costs.
  • Maintain historical financial records through proper filing of both hard copy and electronic documents.
  • Perform Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end reporting processes.
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and support the timely capitalisation of fixed assets.
  • Process supplier and customer invoices accurately.
  • Reconcile creditors accounts against supplier statements.
  • Prepare creditor payments and ensure timely processing.
  • Obtain necessary authorisation for payments exceeding the plant’s authorised limit.
  • Process intercompany invoices.
  • Reconcile intercompany balances accurately.

Requirements

  • Certificate or Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, or Bookkeeping.
  • Minimum of 13 years experience as a Junior Bookkeeper or in a similar role.
  • Sound knowledge of creditors, debtors, and general bookkeeping principles.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and EMA systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
