About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Tax Accountant to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our accounting firm, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing tax calculations and returns, as well as providing expert advice to clients on tax matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review tax calculations and returns
  • Process financial data and compile tax schedules
  • Submit tax returns, reconciliations, and related documents
  • Communicate with clients regarding tax matters and deadlines
  • Compile management accounts and annual financial statements
  • Prepare financial reports and supporting working papers
  • Handle client queries on tax, bookkeeping, and financial statements
  • Liaise with SARS on objections, appeals, and disputes
  • Stay updated on tax legislation
  • Train and support team members
  • Assist with billing and timesheet management

Requirements

  • Registered tax practitioner or completed SAIPA, SAIT or AGA(SA) articles highly advantageous
  • 6 years tax and accounting experience in an accounting or audit firm
  • 5 years experience with SARS eFiling, Draftworx, Sage Accounting or Xero
  • Strong written and verbal communication in English and Afrikaans
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Solid knowledge of IAS, IFRS for SMEs, Companies Act, and tax regulations including VAT, PAYE, and SARS processes
