Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Regional Coach with a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the retail industry having managed a minimum of 700 employees across multi-stores and regions.

THE ROLE:
The Regional Coach (RC) is accountable for the full performance, capability, and culture of all restaurants within the assigned region. This role leads operational excellence, people development, compliance, and overall financial delivery by developing Area Coaches (ACs) and Restaurant Management teams through strong coaching discipline, clear expectations, and consistent execution. The RC ensures sustainable improvement in labour efficiency, COGS control, restaurant EBITDA, and operational standards while driving the leadership behaviours required for a high?performance, people?centered culture. Regional portfolio is covering the Western Cape, North-West, Northern Cape and Mpumalanga

Key Performance Areas (KPAs) & Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Regional Operational Leadership:

  • Leading all regional performance delivery, including sales, profit, labour management, COGS, customer metrics, and operational compliance
  • Translating the Annual Operating Plan into regional KPIs and ensuring execution through Area Coaches and Restaurant teams
  • Conducting structured weekly, period, and quarterly performance reviews with ACs, ensuring clear actions and disciplined follow?through
  • Managing regional risk by identifying performance gaps early and driving rapid corrective action

Restaurant Excellence & Compliance:

  • Ensuring all restaurants consistently execute ROCC, CSL, food safety, and operational brand standards
  • Eliminating repeat findings through preventative action planning and strong AC accountability
  • Maintaining audit readiness across the region for various audits, internal reviews, and statutory inspections
  • Ensuring restaurant facilities, equipment, and assets are well-maintained and cost?efficiently managed.

Leadership Capability & Talent Development:

  • Evaluating the capability and performance of ACs and lead their development through targeted coaching plans
  • Holding ACs accountable for coaching quality, succession planning, discipline, and people capability in their areas
  • Building sustainable talent pipelines for RGM and RM levels, ensuring readiness, certification, and strong internal promotions
  • Addressing leadership behaviour issues quickly, transparently, and decisively

Culture & Leadership Transformation:

  • Driving a high?performance leadership culture built on accountability, consistency, discipline, and transparent communication
  • Embedding leadership routines including weekly business rhythms, monthly people reviews, and quarterly capability sessions
  • Leading by example and role model company values and leadership behaviours expected across the region
  • Shifting regional leadership from reactive crisis management to proactive coaching and structured execution

Cross?Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner closely with HR, Finance, Training, Marketing and Development to land regional priorities effectively
  • Supporting openings, remodels, upgrades, new product rollouts, and pilot projects by ensuring operational readiness at all levels
  • Facilitating smooth communication between field leadership, restaurant support teams, and executive leadership

Growth, Innovation & Strategic Projects:

  • Identifying local market growth opportunities, operational risks, and strategic improvements within the region
  • Leading and/or contributing to projects and innovation rollouts within the business
  • Driving long-term operational planning and regional scaling based on performance, capability, and market conditions

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Operations Management, Leadership, Finance, or a related field, supported by a formal executive?level strategic qualification (e.g., Executive Development Programme, Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic Management/Leadership, or equivalent)
  • 5-7+ years senior multi?unit operations leadership in QSR, FMCG, retail, hospitality or large?scale service environments, with direct accountability for sales, profit, people and compliance across multiple locations
  • Deep operational expertise in multi?unit systems and standards: service quality assurance, operational compliance, food safety & hygiene, labour scheduling & deployment, inventory accuracy, and COGS management
  • Advanced financial & analytical capability: P&L, budgeting, forecasting, variance management, EBITDA optimisation, and the ability to interpret financial, operational and people data to inform decisions and corrective action
  • Demonstrated experience leading regional restructures (e.g., org design, spans & layers, territory realignment) and implementing new performance frameworks/appraisal systems for multi?unit leaders
  • Proven ability to translate company strategy into an annual regional operating plan (AOP) with clear KPIs, cadence and governance (weekly/period/quarter reviews, dashboards, and follow?through)
  • Proven track record of leading leaders: talent development, coaching quality, succession planning, and performance management that drives consistent high?performance behaviours across dispersed teams
