Job Title: Shaft Timberman – Mining – Gauteng

Location: Gauteng, South Africa

Job Type: Full-time

Hire Resolve’s Client are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shaft Timberman to join their mining operation in Gauteng. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and stability of underground shafts by installing and maintaining timber support structures.

Key Responsibilities:
– Install, repair, and maintain timber support structures in underground shafts
– Monitor and assess the condition of timber supports to ensure the safety of miners and equipment
– Work closely with engineers and geologists to develop and implement support plans for underground shafts
– Inspect shafts for potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
– Train and mentor junior timbermen on proper timber support techniques and safety procedures
– Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inspections

Requirements:
– Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Shaft Timberman in a mining environment
– Valid certification as a Timberman in the mining industry
– Solid understanding of underground mining operations and safety regulations
– Strong communication and teamwork skills
– Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
– Physically fit and able to work in tight spaces underground
– Knowledge of timber support techniques and materials
