About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Centurion to join our team as a SQL Server Database Administrator on a 24-month fixed-term contract. As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for ensuring the high availability and performance of our critical business systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage SQL Server databases
- Configure and maintain database servers and processes
- Monitor system’s health and performance
- Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security
- Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
- Assist developers with query tuning and schema refinement
- Provide support for critical business systems
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities
Requirements
- BSC Computer Science degree or BTech or Advanced Diploma or a relevant equivalent qualification at NQF level 7
- A minimum of five (5) years experience in SQL Server database administration or a similar role
- Knowledge and experience with database Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)
- Knowledge and experience with backups, restores, and recovery models
- Knowledge and experience of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
- Knowledge and experience with Windows Server Operating System, including Active Directory
