About the Role
Mecad Systems is seeking a skilled and experienced Professional Town Planner (Pr. Plan) to join our team in Durban. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing planning processes, engaging stakeholders, and driving development approvals within complex regulatory environments. This role offers an opportunity to play a central part in the preparation, management, and delivery of planning applications and spatial planning initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and prepare a range of statutory planning applications from inception to approval
- Engage with municipal officials, project stakeholders, and professional teams
- Provide strategic planning input into development feasibility and project structuring
- Compile high-quality planning reports and supporting documentation
- Monitor regulatory processes and proactively address delays or objections
- Contribute to spatial planning initiatives and policy-aligned development proposals
- Support multidisciplinary coordination across engineering, environmental, and architectural inputs
Requirements
- Registered as a Professional Planner (Pr. Plan) with South African Council for Planners for a minimum of 2 years
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in town and regional planning
- Relevant degree in Town Planning or equivalent (BTRP / BSc / BPlan or higher)
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for site visits and stakeholder engagements
