About the Role
Our client, a leader in the automotive manufacturing industry, is seeking an experienced Project Co-Ordinator to join their team based in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects within the Automotive sector OEM and contributing to the company’s growth and expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for communication between business and the customer regarding project needs e.g.: localisation of products (i.e.: New business, localization, VE/VA etc.)
- Develop project plan and take responsibility for overall project control (i.e.: in-house re-grinding, Internal localization, big 4M changes etc)
- Manage and develop company project master schedules for new projects.
- Responsible for cost calculation of new projects, establish feasibility study and make recommendation to MD.
- Develop BOM, material quantities and complete cost calculation for new parts.
- Engage with customers regarding new business opportunities, understanding requirements, assessingfeasibility, and providing recommendation to MD.
- Acts as primary interface with customers for all Pre-production requests and others.
- Sets QCD targets for each stage of the project, evaluates results, ensuring projects meet QCD objectives.
- Lead OBEYA meetings and manage cross-functional team to monitor milestones.
- Track and evaluate Project progress with all relevant departments, ensuring smooth launch of the project.
- Monitor milestones, identifying potential problems that may affect SOP / change over, develop countermeasure or resolution and then engage responsible departments, ensuring implementation.
- Monitor drawing and design changes ECIs, distribute to the relevant departments, ensuring smooth transition.
- Establish link with HQ and other subsidiaries to receive support and obtain best practices and deploy to TGSA.
- Support requirements of QMS systems i.e.: ISO 9001, IATF 16949
- Conduct project close-out reporting, make recommendations for the future.
- Oversee ad-hoc project and drive the projects from planning till implementation.
- Support business expansion, as part of new projects i.e.: new customers coming in to join TGSA
- Support MD with development of long-term strategy regards projects
- Organise and lead meetings with the Head office members regarding the progress of the projects and share ideas where necessar.
Requirements
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and/or relevant qualification
Min 5 years work experience in managing projects within the Automotive sector OEM
Min 5 years relevant experience in manufacturing environment
MS Office, with Intermediate excel skills
