About the Role
Our client, a well-established automotive workshop based in Edenvale, is seeking a qualified and experienced Gearbox Mechanic to join their team. The ideal candidate must have strong experience working on both manual and automatic transmissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults in manual and automatic transmission systems
- Remove, dismantle, repair and reassemble gearboxes
- Conduct gearbox overhauls and rebuilds
- Perform routine maintenance and servicing of transmission systems
- Identify and replace worn or damaged components
- Test vehicles before and after repairs to ensure optimal performance
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment effectively
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Complete job cards and reports accurately
- Adhere to workshop procedures and safety standards
Requirements
- Qualified mechanic (relevant certification essential)
- Previous automotive experience working on manual and automatic gearboxes
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid drivers license
- Reliable, detail-oriented and committed to quality workmanship
