About the Role
Objective Personnel is seeking a skilled MIG Welder to join our team in Germiston. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient fabrication of structural components for various manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Read, interpret, and understand manufacturing drawings and layouts to accurately fit and prepare structural components for welding
- Plan work order procedures and prepare required tools, materials, and equipment according to job instructions and specifications
- Repair and fabricate various components and equipment using cutting and welding techniques
- Monitor the welding and fitting process to prevent overheating, warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage of materials
- Prepare, assemble, and tack weld components prior to final welding
- Weld mild steel and aluminium components in line with fabrication requirements
- Conduct first-piece inspections and all subsequent inspections as required by company quality standards and procedures
- Set up and adjust welding equipment to prescribed operating parameters
- Ensure strict adherence to safety standards by using all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Operate power tools and welding equipment safely and effectively
- Replace gas cylinders when required
- Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as necessary
- Report faulty equipment, tools, or defective materials to the supervisor immediately
- Perform any other duties assigned by management in support of operational requirements
Requirements
- Minimum of 1-year relevant welding experience
- Ability to read and understand technical and manufacturing drawings
- Competent in using measuring instruments (e.g. tape measures)
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and proper use of PPE

Matric
Certificate from a recognised and accredited training centre or technical college
