About the Role
The Johannesburg-based Liabilities and Litigation Claims Specialist will be responsible for managing and processing liability claims from initial assessment to finalisation, ensuring seamless claim handling in line with regulatory, compliance, and governance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and process liability claims from initial assessment through to finalisation
- Conduct detailed liability and quantum assessments on complex and high-value claims
- Interpret policy wording and provide guidance on coverage and exclusions
- Handle litigious matters and liaise with attorneys, brokers, and other stakeholders
- Review and approve claim rejections in line with company and regulatory standards
- Assist with complaints handling and resolution, including regulatory matters
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal stakeholders on claims-related matters
- Identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement within claims processes
- Participate in claims meetings with brokers, portfolio managers, and internal teams
Requirements
- Matric Certificate (essential)
- Relevant Regulatory Exam (RE5) advantageous
- Candidate attorney
- Formal Degree in Law preferred
- OR Degree in Risk Management / Short-Term Insurance
