Johannesburg: Professional Nurse (TEMP – Roving – Wits RHI)

About the Role

The Johannesburg-based Professional Nurse will be part of a dynamic team working to improve HIV/TB coverage across Ekurhuleni South, specifically within Cluster 9, 10, and 12. This role involves managing HIV/TB clients, providing Preventive Infectious Control and Treatment (PICT), and implementing quality improvement plans to ensure high-quality care for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Screen patients on HIV in all services provided at the allocated clinic or cluster
  • Examine and treat HIV-infected patients
  • Treat opportunistic infections diagnosed
  • Prescribe appropriate treatments according to DoH guidelines
  • Identify and refer patients with ART failure or complications
  • Support counsellors in adherence issues on patients
  • Facilitate services such as down- and up-referrals
  • Assist with SOPs that will improve the running of the clinic (e.g., up-referral SOP)
  • Provide comprehensive follow-up services for patients on treatment as required
  • Establish a baseline needs assessment for health systems improvement in the clinic
  • Develop a tailored approach in conjunction with QIMs and technical experts
  • Implement Gophelega programmes within the clinic
  • Monitor and review the implementation and progress of programme work plans

Requirements

  • Relevant Nursing Diploma or equivalent
  • Professional Body Registration: South African Nursing Council
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Public Health
  • NiMART Certificate is compulsory
  • Certification/experience in HIV Management
  • Sound technical knowledge of PMTCT, Adult HIV, TB-HIV integration, Paediatric treatment and care
