About the Role

The Regional General Manager (GM) will lead the operations of our Johannesburg branch, a critical multi-functional hub responsible for sales, distribution, and manufacturing across Gauteng, North West, Mpumalanga, and key African export markets. This role is accountable for delivering strong commercial performance, world-class service levels, and consistent product quality while fostering a high-performance culture and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide your Leadership & People Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of ±80 staff across multiple functions.
  • Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, operational discipline, and alignment to the company’s mission and values.
  • Ensure the organisational structure remains fit for purpose and recommend improvements where required.
  • Uphold the company’s responsibilities toward customers, suppliers, and employees.
  • Branch Strategy & Performance: Develop and execute branch strategies that protect company assets, drive growth, and manage financial and operational risks.
  • Set and monitor annual performance targets for sales, production, distribution efficiency, and cost control.
  • Deliver profitable performance and consistently meet or exceed budgeted KPIs.
  • Sales & Customer Service Oversight: Support the regional sales team in driving growth in Gauteng, North West, Mpumalanga, and African export markets.
  • Maintain exceptional customer satisfaction through reliable delivery, product availability, and service quality.
  • Work with Sales Management to resolve key customer challenges, strengthen relationships, and identify new opportunities.
  • Logistics & Distribution Management: Oversee daily distribution operations, fleet utilisation, routing efficiency, and on-time delivery performance.
  • Ensure tight co-ordination between warehouse, receiving, and dispatch teams.
  • Maintain accurate stock levels with strong warehouse controls and inventory discipline.
  • Production & Manufacturing Oversight: Lead the branch’s manufacturing operations, supplying the region as well as Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Cato Ridge, and Limpopo.
  • Ensure production schedules are met consistently and efficiently, with optimal use of resources.
  • Uphold high standards of product quality, cost efficiency, compliance, and safety.
  • Procurement & Supply Chain: Ensure raw material procurement is timely, cost-effective, and aligned with production and sales requirements.
  • Strengthen supplier relationships and manage supply chain risks and continuity.
  • Compliance, Health & Safety, and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with labour legislation, industry regulations, and company policies.
  • Maintain a safe working environment across warehouse, production, and logistics areas.
  • Lead & co-ordinate risk assessment audits and implement mitigation measures to safeguard people and assets.
  • Financial & Administrative Management: Oversee the branch budget, cost controls, expense approvals, and financial reporting accuracy.
  • Support month-end close processes and contribute to financial planning cycles.
  • Implement continuous cost-saving and efficiency initiatives without compromising quality.
  • Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence: Identify bottlenecks and operational inefficiencies across all departments.
  • Lead initiatives that improve processes, systems, productivity, quality, and safety.
  • Drive growth in Gauteng while ensuring operations remain lean, efficient, and scalable.
  • Review operational performance and strategic direction regularly with the CEO.

Requirements

Strong leadership presence and ability to inspire multi-disciplinary teams.

Proven experience managing sales, logistics, production, and distribution environments.

Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.

Solid understanding of manufacturing, supply chain, customer service, and warehousing operations.

Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

Ability to thrive under pressure and make sound, timely decisions.

Strong organisational, planning, and prioritisation capability.
