Johannesburg: Technical Costing Engineer

Job Description

Role Overview You will be responsible for improving and managing equipment costing models, supporting tendering and proposal development, and enhancing internal sales and pricing processes. The role plays a key part in ensuring pricing accuracy, margin control, and scalable systems that support business growth. Key Responsibilities Lead the redevelopment and ongoing management of Excel-based costing tools Develop accurate costing models for standard and custom engineered equipment Validate cost structures including materials, labour, fabrication, and overheads Manage and support tendering, estimating, and proposal processes Review RFQs and lead internal quotation development Support pricing strategy for large tenders and project submissions Improve internal sales workflows and quotation turnaround times Provide technical support for equipment selection and application solutions Drive continuous improvement in costing, tendering, and internal systems Minimum Requirements Mechanical Engineering Diploma, BTech, or Degree 8 years experience in equipment costing, tendering, or technical sales support Experience in engineered-to-order environments Advanced Excel modelling skills Strong understanding of manufacturing cost drivers and BOM structures Proven commercial and analytical ability Team leadership or mentoring experience Advantageous Experience Water and wastewater or process equipment Fabrication or heavy engineering environments Pumps, valves, or rotating equipment ERP systems or costing system development Key Attributes Commercially astute and detail-oriented Strong technical and analytical capability Structured, systems-driven approach Problem-solving mindset with a hands-on attitude Strong leadership ability If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply directly.
