Job Description

IVANPLATS (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Ivanhoe Mines, is advancing the development of its world-class palladium-rhodium-nickel-copper-gold project in the Limpopo Province near Mokopane. This unique mineral deposit will be exploited using large mechanised state-of-the-art underground mining methods, deploying the latest technology to develop this mine of the future. Suitably qualified and experienced candidates are invited to apply for the following vacancies required for the project development. Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills: Diploma or Degree in Building, Construction Management or related field. Suitable candidates must have the following work experience Minimum 810 years experience in building construction within mining, infrastructure or industrial environments. Proven experience supervising contractors on site. Strong understanding of structural and finishing work. Experience working in multi-contractor environments is advantageous. The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to: Building Works Supervision Oversee all building-related activities including concrete works, bricklaying, plastering, roofing, finishes and structural elements. Ensure all work is executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and standards. Monitor daily site activities and ensure correct construction methods are applied. Ensure proper sequencing of work to avoid clashes and inefficiencies. Contractor Management and Capability Development Provide direct supervision and guidance to local contractors on site. Assist contractors in interpreting drawings, specifications and construction requirements. Identify skill gaps and provide practical, hands-on support to improve execution. Ensure contractors understand required quality standards and workmanship expectations. Quality Control and Assurance Ensure all structural and finishing works meet required quality standards. Work closely with QA/QC Supervisor to inspect and verify work at key stages. Identify defects early and implement corrective actions before work progresses. Prevent rework through proactive monitoring and intervention. Coordination with Other Disciplines Coordinate building works with civil, electrical and other construction activities. Ensure alignment between different workstreams to avoid delays or rework. Participate in site coordination meetings to ensure integrated execution. Schedule and Progress Management Ensure building activities are executed in line with project schedule. Monitor progress against plan and escalate delays or constraints. Assist in implementing corrective actions to maintain schedule integrity. Material Usage and Control Ensure proper use of materials in line with specifications and quantities. Work closely with Materials Controller to ensure availability and accountability. Prevent wastage, misuse or theft of materials. Risk Management Identify risks relating to workmanship, sequencing, contractor capability and quality. Implement mitigation strategies to prevent delays and cost overruns.
