About the Role
Join our team at Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine, a values-driven company that cares for its people unconditionally. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of Assore Limited and a world-class producer of Chrome Ore in the Limpopo Province. As a Fitter Aide (Belt Maintenance) (B4), you will report to the Fitter or nominee and play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal availability and reliability of equipment in support of effective and continuously improved mines operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in ensuring optimum availability and reliability of equipment
- Execute maintenance on mining equipment, including modifications and repairs
- Conduct mini risk assessments in own area of work and within span of control
- Ensure own work area is always clean
- Clean and store equipment and tools after use
- Work independently and under the supervision of the artisan
- Complete tasks according to set requirements and standards
- Maintain rock breakers, including remove and replace of hydraulic hoses on rock breaker
- Replace rock breakers, power pack and hydraulic cylinders
- Do maintenance on conveyor belts, including greasing bearing on conveyor belt
- Replace worn idlers and skirting rubbers
- Replace vent fans, cleaning of fan plate and the impellor pump
- Assist Artisans in conducting maintenance on compressors, including replacement and removal of air filters and oil filters
- Adhere to planned maintenance / production schedules and breakdowns to assist in achieving production throughout
- Assume responsibility for the safe and optimal use of equipment and related machinery
- Record defects and status of tools and equipment, signed and handed over to Chargehand/Foreman
- Operate stationery and mobile engineering equipment
- Perform lock-out procedure when required
- Utilize tools, material, and equipment according to SOPs
- Assist Artisan during the maintenance of chairlifts, including the replacement and removal of ropes, chair, brakes and safe operation of the chairlift
- Conduct maintenance of underground dams, including the replacement and removal of pumps
- Assist artisans in the maintenance of primary and secondary equipment when instructed
Requirements
- Grade 10 / Standard 8 Certificate
- Code 08 (B) Drivers Licence
- Operative Course Certificate (advantageous)
- 3 months practical trade-related experience in a heavy industrial/ mining/ plant environment
