About the Role
The Commercial Litigation Secretary role at ARCS requires a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to provide administrative support to the litigation department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing legal files, drafting correspondence and documentation, and ensuring compliance with court procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Opening and administration of legal files
- Maintaining accurate filing systems and records management
- Attending to billing and related administrative functions
- Drafting legal correspondence and liaising with instructing Attorneys
- Drafting briefs, letters, notices, pleadings, and related litigation documentation
- Assisting Attorneys with Magistrate Court and High Court litigation matters
- Assisting with Court applications and litigation preparation
- Managing file finances and general file administration
- Attending to dictations and transcription of legal documents
- Ensuring compliance with legal and court procedures
- General administrative and secretarial duties within the litigation department
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Legal Secretary within a legal firm
- Proven experience in Magistrate Court and High Court Litigation
- Strong drafting skills relating to pleadings, notices, correspondence, and legal documentation
- Experience working on legal software systems essential
- Experience on Ghost Practice will be advantageous
