Pietermaritzburg: Laser Operator Assistant

About the Role

Our client in Pietermaritzburg is seeking a Laser Operator Assistant to join their manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be energetic, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Laser Operator with daily production activities
• Operate a forklift safely and efficiently
• Operate overhead cranes as required
• Load and offload metal sheets onto and off the laser cutting bed
• Inspect the quality of laser-cut components
• Remove finished parts and place them in designated storage racks
• Perform basic housekeeping duties within the department

Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric (advantageous)
• Valid Forklift Licence
• Technical understanding of laser cutting processes
• Ability to read measurements and interpret technical drawings
• Experience using power tools, particularly grinders
• Ability to use measuring equipment, including tape measures and Vernier calipers
