About the Role

The Assistant Warehouse Manager is a physically active role focused on supporting daily operations and supervising the warehouse team in Pinetown. This position requires dedication, attention to detail, and strong leadership skills to maintain workflow, efficiency, and strict stock control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Support: Assist the Warehouse Manager with daily oversight and execution of operational plans.
  • Stock Accuracy: Maintain a minimum stock accuracy of 96% through regular verification, spot checks, and cycle counts.
  • Floor Supervision: Manage all floor activities, including staging, picking, loading, and dispatching.
  • Labour Productivity: Monitor team output to reduce idle time and ensure staff are utilised effectively.
  • Logistics Optimisation: Monitor daily loading to ensure vehicle space and weight utilisation remains at 90% or higher.
  • Stock Management: Identify and flag any stock older than 30 days and ensure the correct application of FIFO procedures.
  • Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks and communicate inefficiencies to management for immediate resolution.
  • Safety & Standards: Maintain a clean, organised, and safety-compliant environment while reporting any onsite incidents within 24 hours.
  • Team Development: Facilitate operational processes to ensure the team understands and adheres to all required workflows.

Requirements

Proven experience in a warehouse supervisory or assistant management role.

Experience within a manufacturing environment (furniture industry experience is advantageous).

Proficiency in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to improve turnaround times.

Strong understanding of stock control, cycle counting, and FIFO principles.

Ability to manage high-volume loading and dispatch schedules.

No formal education or certifications required for this role.

Salary & Benefits

R16,000 – R18,000 per month.
