About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Component Engineer to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing and introducing locally manufactured components that meet local market requirements. They will adapt German sourced designs to be compatible with local environmental conditions and provide technical data at the correct component engineering level.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical components for vehicles
- Resolve design-related problems on all locally manufactured platforms
- Coordinate testing and release of components and systems, both locally and at source
- Maintain and update the Bill of Materials (BOM) system
- Conduct cost analysis of various components, systems, and projects
- Initiate and investigate cost-saving (PKO) opportunities
Requirements
- National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering)
- Minimum 5 years design and development experience in an automotive component for volume production
- High level of understanding of technical/engineering concepts and design
- Good communication skills
- Problem resolution capability
- Project management capability
- Ability to lead and operate within a team
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills
- High degree of computer literacy (MS Office package, CAD)
- Ability to work and complete tasks without supervision
Qualifications
- German language proficiency (added advantage)
