SHIPS OPERATOR
REQUIREMENTS
A matric (Grade 12) level of education as a minimum
Related industry experience essential / At least 3 years operational experience
Demonstrable knowledge and experience of vessel operations and handling of bulk exports are essential
A superior level of English literacy and numeracy is essential
Computer literacy (MS Office)
IPMS proficient
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Basic foundational with commercial shipping knowledge as it pertains to Port Agency requirements
Ability to interact and liaise effectively with clients and colleagues
Customer service oriented
Ability to work under pressure and additional hours/weekends
Driven, energetic and willing to learn
Meticulous, accurate and conscientious
Valid Code 08 Drivers License

JOB OBJECTIVE
Cover all aspects of ships agency operations
Attend vessel husbandry requirements (crew changes / stores / deliveries)
Attend to all aspects of vessel planning and operations in line with required ships agency standards
Sound knowledge of vessel operations handling bulk cargoes (Exports/Imports), as it pertains to standard planning and loading practices
Submit reports in line with client requirements
Conversant with Bills of Lading requirements
Attend to vessel documentation and office admin, in accordance with customer requirements, S.O.P.s and Company Policy
Establish and maintain effective relationships with Superiors and colleagues
Build and maintain sound relationships with customers and 3rd party service providers
Attend to Principals requirements with determination and eagerness
Good knowledge of the port and shipping industry
Maintain a high-profile on-board vessel
Manage Port Disbursement requirements (Funding / Cash Flow)
Manage appointments, performance, invoices, and payment of sub-contractors
