About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team in Potchefstroom, South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation and control systems for food processing equipment. They will work closely with mechanical, electrical, and production teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement automation and control systems for food processing equipment
- Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize existing automation systems
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and production teams on projects
- Ensure systems comply with food safety and hygienic design standards
- Support commissioning, testing, and on-site installations
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Automation
- 3–5 years’ experience in automation engineering (food/FMCG industry advantageous)
- Strong PLC programming experience (e.g. Siemens, Allen Bradley)
- Experience with HMI and SCADA systems
- Knowledge of industrial networks and control systems
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
