Job Description
A leading organisation within the insurance sector is seeking a Short-Term Claims Consultant to manage and process short-term insurance claims efficiently and accurately. The successful candidate will deliver a high standard of client service while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies. This role plays a key part in maintaining strong client relationships through professional, empathetic, and solution-focused interactions.
Key Responsibilities Claims Management
- Manage the full claims lifecycle, including registration, assessment, validation, and settlement
- Ensure claims are processed within agreed service level agreements (SLAs)
- Accurately capture and update claims information within internal systems
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory and operational requirements
Client Engagement
- Communicate with clients to obtain required information and provide updates on claims
- Explain claims processes clearly and manage expectations
- Handle queries and concerns professionally, ensuring a positive client experience
- Escalate complex or disputed claims when necessary
Assessment & Investigation
- Review and verify claims documentation to determine validity
- Liaise with external service providers (e.g., assessors, repairers) for accurate evaluations
- Identify and report any suspicious or potentially fraudulent claims
- Ensure accurate costing and assessment of damages
Collaboration
- Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth claims resolution
- Contribute to process improvements and team performance initiatives
Compliance & Reporting
- Adhere to relevant regulations, company policies, and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles
- Prepare and submit reports as required by management
Minimum Requirements Qualifications
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Relevant regulatory qualification (e.g., RE5)
Experience
- Minimum 2 years experience in short-term insurance claims (non-motor building & contents preferred)
- Experience within the insurance or financial services industry is essential
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of short-term insurance products and claims processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and claims systems
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Customer-focused with a professional and empathetic approach
