About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Ophthalmic Nurse to join our team in Roodepoort. As a key member of our ophthalmic theatre team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care and optimal surgical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in ophthalmic surgeries, maintaining a sterile environment and handling surgical instruments correctly.
- Provide high-quality pre-operative and post-operative care to ophthalmic patients.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other theatre team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Perform scrubbing duties for ophthalmic procedures as required.
- Support and monitor patients undergoing local, regional, or general anaesthesia.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with hospital policies.
- Adhere strictly to infection control, health, and safety standards at all times.
Requirements
- Matric Registered Nurse (RN) qualification
- Valid registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Over 5 years of nursing experience, including theatre experience
- Previous experience in ophthalmology or related disciplines is preferred
