Role Overview:
A luxury safari lodge in the Greater Kruger region is urgently seeking a highly skilled and passionate Executive Chef to lead its culinary operation. This is a serious role for a chef who understands the importance of fine dining within a luxury safari experience and is committed to delivering exceptional cuisine without compromise.
The ideal candidate will have a strong fine dining background, exceptional kitchen leadership skills, and a genuine passion for creating memorable guest dining experiences in a luxury lodge environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the full kitchen operation
- Design and deliver exceptional fine dining menus and guest experiences
- Lead, train, and inspire the kitchen brigade
- Maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency
- Manage stock control, ordering, food costings, and kitchen administration
- Ensure strict hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards
- Cater to guest dietary requirements and personalised requests
- Work closely with lodge management to uphold luxury hospitality standards
Requirements:
- Formal culinary qualification essential
- Graduates from ICA, Prue Leith, or similar institutions highly preferred
- Previous experience as an Executive Chef or Senior Sous Chef within luxury hospitality
- Strong fine dining experience essential
- Proven leadership and kitchen management skills
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities
- Passion for culinary excellence and luxury guest experiences
- Ability to work well under pressure in a remote lodge environment
