Job Description
A well-established company within the agricultural and feedlot industry is seeking an experienced and driven Financial Manager to join their Heidelberg operation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the full financial function across multiple divisions, driving financial strategy, ensuring compliance, improving profitability, and leading finance and administrative teams within a dynamic operational environment.
This role is ideally suited to a highly analytical and commercially minded finance professional with strong leadership capability and the ability to thrive under pressure.
Minimum Requirements
- Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) qualification essential
- Minimum 510 years senior financial management experience
- Agricultural industry experience advantageous
- Strong knowledge of:
- Internal controls
- Risk management
- Cost accounting
- Stock control systems
- Financial reporting
- ERP system experience, preferably Business Central
- Advanced computer literacy and analytical ability
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Must reside in or around Heidelberg or be willing to relocate
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the full financial function across various divisions and group functions
- Develop and implement financial and risk mitigation strategies
- Review and strengthen internal controls and financial processes
- Coordinate statutory audits and tax compliance with external auditors
- Maintain and monitor accounting and ERP systems
- Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and financial reports
- Analyse revenue, expenditure, cash flow, and balance sheet performance
- Ensure compliance with financial legislation and reporting standards
- Assist executive management with strategic financial decision-making
- Lead and manage accounting and administrative teams
- Drive profitability improvement initiatives and cost control measures
- Monitor operational and capital expenditure
- Oversee financial controls relating to stock and serialization systems
- Manage SARS-related audits and queries
- Ensure compliance with insurance, pension fund, and group reporting requirements
- Participate in process, policy, and systems improvements to support company growth
- Stay informed on market and industry trends
- Lead ad-hoc projects focused on efficiency and technology enhancement
