Key areas of responsibility include in South Africa and foreign territories:

  • At least 2 years post-articles experience in IP essential
  • LLB degree, Admitted attorney
  • Passed SAIIPPL exams
  • Trade mark clearance searches
  • Prosecution of trade mark applications
  • Assignments and amendments of trade marks
  • Enforcement of trade mark and copyright matters
  • Trade mark oppositions before the relevant registries and the High Court
  • Commercial and transactional IP including co-existence agreements and licences
  • Company name disputes
  • Domain name disputes and administration
  • Conduct legal research and provide opinions on intellectual property issues
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong drafting skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Reliability and self motivation and ability to work on their own and in a team
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Provide exceptional client service
