Job Description

Our client, a leading company within the FMCG, Cold Chain, Food Perishables, and Food Service Distribution sector, is seeking an experienced and reliable Contract Picker to join their warehouse operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately picking customer orders, maintaining productivity targets, and ensuring products are handled according to company and food safety standards.
This role requires an individual who is energetic, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in cold storage and freezer environments.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric Certificate.
  • Minimum 2–4 years’ experience as a Picker within:
    • FMCG
    • Cold Chain
    • Food Perishables
    • Food Service Distribution
  • Industry experience is mandatory.
  • Available immediately or at short notice.
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, and overtime when required.
  • Physically fit and capable of working in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
  • Clear understanding of warehouse processes and stock handling procedures.
  • Contactable References

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately pick orders according to picking slips, scanner instructions, or voice-picking systems.
  • Ensure picked products match customer requirements and order quantities.
  • Handle products carefully to maintain quality and prevent damage.
  • Adhere to productivity and accuracy targets.
  • Assist with stock replenishment and stock rotation procedures.
  • Follow all food safety, health, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards within the warehouse.
  • Report stock discrepancies, damages, or operational issues to supervisors.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to ensure efficient order fulfilment.

Advantageous Experience

  • Previous experience using Voice Picking systems.
  • Experience working in cold storage and freezer environments.
  • Exposure to RF scanning equipment and warehouse management systems.
  • Experience handling chilled, frozen, and perishable food products.
