About the Role

The Department of Construction Management at Nelson Mandela University seeks to appoint a Professor of Construction Management to facilitate teaching and learning as well as research supervision of Honours, Masters, and Doctoral students. The main aim of this professorship is to maintain Nelson Mandela University as the leader in the discipline and profession of Construction Management on the African continent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to knowledge production through the publication of scholarly outputs in reputable journals and peer-reviewed books, and presentations at local, national and international conferences.
  • Supervise Honours and Masters students as well as Doctoral candidates.
  • Conceptualise and develop research methodologies that heighten the business of construction theories.
  • Engage local and regional intellectual communities towards systematic theorisation of construction management as a disciplinary space.
  • Pursue external funding for research by developing and attracting project proposals that would contribute towards the sustainability of the built environment related research projects at Mandela University.
  • Facilitate teaching and learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
  • Perform administration as well as other academic related functions.
  • Take responsibility for identified academic modules in the BSc and BSc (Honours) Construction Management programme.
  • Undertake subject development.

Requirements

  • An appropriate doctoral qualification in Construction Management.
  • Possess 6–10 years of higher education experience as a Professor and additional 2 years at the Associate Professor level, with at least 5 years in Construction Management.
  • Skilled in postgraduate teaching and supervision.
  • Demonstrable record of research publications in accredited international and national publications.
  • Demonstrate the ability to raise research funds and lead research projects.
  • A minimum of five-years Construction Management experience.
