About the Role
Kendrick Recruitment is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Sous Chef to join a prestigious Private Game Reserve in the Kruger National Park. This live-in role offers an exciting opportunity for a top-tier culinary professional to support the Executive Chef in leading a dynamic kitchen team and delivering exceptional cuisine in a luxury safari setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations and team management
- Maintain high culinary standards and consistency in food preparation and presentation
- Lead, train, and motivate junior kitchen staff to ensure strong team performance
- Ensure strict hygiene and food safety standards are upheld at all times
- Participate in menu development, seasonal planning, and sourcing of ingredients
- Manage stock levels, orders, and kitchen inventory control
- Oversee efficient service delivery across all meal periods
- Step into the Executive Chef role when required and assist with kitchen administration
Requirements
Formal culinary qualification from a recognised institution
Minimum 5 years experience in a fine dining environment, with at least 2 years in a senior role
Strong leadership and team coordination skills
Creative with a keen eye for detail and presentation
Excellent knowledge of food safety, kitchen operations, and modern cooking techniques
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Culinary Arts (if applicable)
Salary & Benefits
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
Live-in position with meals provided
Location: Kruger National Park
15 annual leave days per year
