Job Description

Minimum Required Qualification:

  • Mine Surveyors Certificate of Competency
  • ND / NHD / B-Tech or BSc Survey

The Appointee should:

  • NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate for Adults).
  • Chamber of Mines Advanced Survey and Valuation Certificate
  • At least 5 years experience as a Supervisor Survey within a survey department.
  • Medically fit to work in the specific business area
  • Clear security screening record
  • Valid drivers license (if applicable).

Advantageous Qualifications:

  • Registration with IMMSA (Advantageous)

Additional Requirements:

  • NQF 7 (Bachelors Degree or Advanced Diploma) in Mineral Resource Management would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effective Survey services to support BU performance Manage the activities of the Survey and Evaluation Teams. Plan monthly Survey and Evaluation requirement and priorities. Compile Survey and Evaluation plans. Supervise the Survey Team. Compile, design, report plan appropriate reports to the Surveying function. Implement effective controls & procedures. Supervise the measurement of underground production performance. Effective Survey and Evaluation services to support Mine Ensure the achieving and maintenance of optimum surveying standards. Establish on-Mine Survey Standards. Coordinate effective usage of equipment. Implement effective measurements and planning system. Co-ordinate and advise the business on best standards and Procedures. Supervise and monitor Performance Measuring Processes. Legal Compliance Ensure the achievement and maintenance of the business legal compliance. Maintain MPRDA survey legal compliance. Issue survey instructions and notifications. Maintain DMR plans. Conduct monthly reporting according to standard. Mine Survey Plans Preparing mine plans (Survey). Ensure the availability of electronic production survey plans. Compile and maintain survey and evaluation plans. Monthly Survey Measurements Surveying monthly production. Measure monthly production within electronic environment. Measure underground excavations. Ensure accurate summarizing and reporting of measurement information. Stakeholder Relations Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally. Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders. Sourcing, contracting and negotiating with service providers. Liaising with the necessary entities on any environmental management related requirements and alignment where applicable. Collaborating with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes.
  • Financial Management Managing the finances of the Division to achieve Organisational objectives. Working Cost Budgets: Setting and approving budgeting parameters for the Division in line with business requirements and financial objectives. Approving operational expenditure. Formulating monthly and annual budgets. Cost Savings: Leading and driving cost saving and cash conservation initiatives. Remaining competitive on the global cost curve for surface operations. Building a values-based organisational culture Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment specific organisational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment. ESG Compliance Align to international responsible mining principles. SA Gold Operations: Align to World Gold Council (WGC) Responsible Gold Mining Principles (RGMPs). SA PGM Operations: Enhance Together for Sustainability (eTfS) initiative. SHE Compliance Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment. Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks. Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures. SHE Management: Instil a culture of SHE leadership within the department. Participate in regional/local bodies and decision-making forums in the process developing a business relevant external environment, that will result in the longer-term sustainability of the Division. Quality Management System (QMS): Approve departments documents. Comply with requirements of the Quality Management System. Focus on safe production & operational excellence Focus on safety and health as well as operational excellence Improve our position on global industry cost curve
