About the Role

We are seeking an experienced IT Systems Administrator to join our team in Stellenbosch. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our Linux server environments, virtualization layers, and network infrastructure. You will also provide support for Google Workspace tenancy, SAN/NAS storage backups, and security compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer Linux server environments (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL) and virtualization layers (KVM/VMware).
  • Manage user lifecycle in LDAP and Google Workspace (accounts, groups, permissions).
  • Oversee SAN/NAS storage backups and perform test restores.
  • Monitor system health, CPU/RAM usage, and storage thresholds.
  • Support Google Workspace tenancy (shared drives, mail flow, security settings).
  • Network Administration: Maintain uptime for LAN, WAN, and VPN tunnels. Assist with racking, stacking, and configuring switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Manage VLANs, DHCP, and IP address allocations.
  • Monitor traffic patterns and enforce wireless security protocols.
  • Security & Compliance: Execute automated patching schedules for Linux servers and critical infrastructure. Remediate vulnerabilities, enforce MFA, and support security audits.
  • Documentation: Maintain updated network and server topology diagrams. Create runbooks for recurring backend tasks (e.g., VM provisioning). Keep accurate change logs for production environments.

Requirements

  • IT Diploma or equivalent in Network/System Administration.
  • 35 years in backend technical roles.
  • Strong experience with Linux servers, virtualization, and SAN/NAS storage.
  • Solid understanding of OSI model, TCP/IP, and firewall traffic flows.
  • Familiarity with endpoint, application, and infrastructure security tools.
