About the Role
We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Fitter to join our team at Profile Personnel. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing cost-effective mechanical maintenance and repairs on all plant and ancillary equipment, as well as installing new plant and machinery to required standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform cost-effective mechanical maintenance and repairs on all plant and ancillary equipment.
- Install new plant and machinery to required standards.
- Accurately record all work performed on timesheets and job cards.
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of all plant and equipment on site.
- Ensure housekeeping and safety compliance in all work areas.
- Work overtime and perform standby duties as operationally required.
- Assist with training and development of apprentices and semi-skilled staff.
- Requisition necessary spares and materials.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of planned maintenance programs.
- Record faults, update planned work lists, and execute repair plans.
Requirements
- Matric / NTC 3.
- Trade-tested Fitter (Red Seal) Fitter & Turner qualification advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment (sawmill experience advantageous).
- Proven ability in servicing and installation of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, conveyors, gearboxes, belt and chain drives.
- Welding experience essential.
- Machine setup experience required.
- Medically fit individual.
- Code EB drivers license with own transport.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, standby duties, overtime (including weekends).
- Proficiency in English (speak, read, write).
- Ability to communicate in isiXhosa advantageous.
