About the Role

We are seeking an experienced hospitality professional to join our Waterberg Safari Lodge team as Assistant Lodge Manager. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for supporting the Lodge Manager in ensuring the smooth running of the property while maintaining exceptional guest experiences and high operational standards across all departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and host guests throughout their stay, ensuring warm and personalised service
  • Handle guest requests, feedback, and special arrangements professionally and efficiently
  • Maintain high luxury hospitality standards across all guest touchpoints
  • Engage with guests during meals, activities, arrivals, and departures to ensure an exceptional experience
  • Assist in overseeing the day-to-day operation of the lodge
  • Support operational departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food & Beverage, Kitchen, Spa, Retail, and Guest Activities
  • Conduct regular lodge inspections and ensure standards are consistently maintained
  • Assist with reservations, occupancy management, and guest logistics
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, service standards, and operational controls
  • Step into a relief management role when required
  • Support and motivate departmental teams to maintain strong operational performance
  • Assist with staff training, mentoring, and performance management
  • Foster a professional, positive, and team-oriented working environment

Requirements

  • 3–5 years’ experience in a similar hospitality management role
  • Previous luxury lodge or safari lodge experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of lodge operations and Rooms Division
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a remote hospitality environment
  • Experience working on Opera or Opera Cloud systems advantageous
