About the Role

The Department Supervisor – Stock & Receiving Department role at Brights Hardware is a critical position that manages the day-to-day receiving and counting of stock inventory within the inventory parameters of the stock system. This includes managing the flow of stock from the receiving department to respective departments in the store, ensuring accurate stock records are maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure company rules and regulations are followed and provide training as well as guidance thereon, i.e. supplier/customer etiquette.
  • Develop, mentor and evaluate staff.
  • Continuously ensure S.O.Ps are adhered to.
  • Assign staff to specific areas and duties and provide instructions as well as resources to staff when delegating responsibilities to ensure successful completion of tasks.
  • Conduct staff meetings to raise enthusiasm and discuss team performance and opportunities for improvement.
  • Keep record and submit to Department Manager on a weekly basis.
  • Responsible for Corrective actions and disciplining of associates when work does not meet expectations.
  • Ensure in the mornings availability and working condition of all equipment for the department and that it is maintained accurately and regularly i.e. trolleys; hyster operator and lift.
  • Immediately report fault within 30 minutes to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Complete all necessary stock takes.
  • Maintain stock levels through daily cycle counts and auditing.
  • Maintain a storeroom and the allocation of space for stock.
  • Ensure that the storeroom meets OHS regulations.
  • Daily maintain store/merchandising standards as described in our merchandising standards manual; this includes stock management, cleaning, shelf/stock presentation.
  • Plan and prepare work schedules, daily registers and time & attendance of staff, including leave queries, manage overtime.
  • Regularly review and monitor staffs timekeeping and discipline accordingly.
  • Keep records.
  • Ensure that weekly and monthly reports are handed in to your superior.
  • Assist in compiling CFCs / transfer error and shrinkage reports.
  • Perform spot checks on stock counts and stock received and captured.

Requirements

  • Matric or equivalent
  • Brights Induction (Service Excellence)
  • Brights Leadership Training completed
  • Intermediate level merchandising certificate
  • 2 Years minimum experience in a similar role
  • 2 Years experience as a Stock Controller
  • 3 Years experience in the hardware environment
  • Must have previous experience in a Stock department
