About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Debtors Clerk to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our finance function, you will be responsible for managing tenant billings and monthly recoveries, including utilities, rates, levies, and expenses. If you have a strong understanding of tenant billing, recoveries, and reconciliations, and are proficient in MS Office and property management systems, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage tenant billings and monthly recoveries including utilities, rates, levies, and expenses
  • Ensure all recoverable expenses are billed accurately and recovered in full
  • Perform reconciliations for municipal services, rates, levies, and recoveries
  • Maintain monthly municipal control sheets and daily debtors reports
  • Conduct tenant deposit audits, process refunds, and manage tenant deposits
  • Process tenant account openings, closures, adjustments, and reconciliations
  • Handle all tenant queries relating to accounts, billing, and recoveries
  • Manage debt collection processes including arrears follow-ups, reminders, and reporting
  • Issue letters of demand, arrears SMS notifications, and payment reminders
  • Liaise with attorneys regarding defaulting tenants and legal handovers
  • Send tenant statements and manage debit order setup and processing
  • Capture receipts, complete banking documentation, and follow up on unallocated payments
  • Report cash received in line with FICA requirements
  • Liaise with meter reading companies, utility providers, and service partners
  • Log tenant maintenance calls, escalate to facilities, and follow up on progress and satisfaction

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Debtors Clerk within a property management environment
  • Strong understanding of tenant billing, recoveries, and reconciliations
  • Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage high volumes of work and multiple priorities

Job Description

A well-established Technical Services Provider is seeking a proactive Debtors Clerk with solid foundational knowledge of accounting and financial processes to join their team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing debtor accounts, processing payments, performing reconciliations, and ensuring accurate management of the debtors’ ledger. Strong attention to detail and confidence in engaging with clients regarding outstanding accounts will be essential.  Requirements: National Senior Certificate/Matric Fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans with strong communication skills and professional client interaction Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Excel Minimum 1 year experience in a Debtors/Accounts Receivable role Ability to perform account reconciliations accurately Excellent attention to detail and time-management abilities Own vehicle with a valid Driver’s License  Kindly note that if you have not received feedback within 2 weeks of your application, please consider your application unsuccessful.

Debtors Clerk – S/Subs – Well known company needs an experienced Debtors clerk to join the department Report to: Accounting Manager Region: Western Cape S/Subs Type: Permanent Duties and Responsibilities: Matric with at least 5 years international debtors experience Strong computer literacy and experience working on financial systems in a similar role (Syspro) Perform full debtors function including maintaining customer data, sending out monthly statements and processing of receipts Accounting for interest, discounts and rebates Reconcile individual debtors accounts Resolve queries on customer accounts Update cashflow forecast for customer receipts on a weekly basis Maintain customer information on the accounting system Monitor age analysis and follow up to ensure that payments are made timeously Collect overdue amount, escalating potential problems to relevant managers Liaise with Customer re payment terms and overdue payments Sectors: Accounting / Auditing Functions: Debtors / Accounts Receivable Skills Required: Debtors reconciliations, Client limits, Collections and problem-solving on overdue accounts, Communication regarding escalations and problem areas, Age analysis, Syspro
