About the Role
We are seeking a Junior Buyer to join our team on a 6-month temporary contract based in Johannesburg. As a key member of our buying team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of compelling and commercially relevant Inflight Retail, store, Pre-Order and Home Delivery ranges for contracted Client Airlines across the globe.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders and colleagues to deliver ranges and associated marketing materials.
- Support the successful implementation of New Product Launches for our client airlines.
- Collaborate with the Senior Buyer/Buyer to achieve budgeted sales and profitability targets.
- Manage whole categories with assistance from the buyer.
- Establish positive commercial relationships with suppliers, leveraging strategically as instructed.
- Foster strong relationships with all Clients, delivering excellent customer service.
- Provide effective administrative support to the buying team, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Collect and maintain accurate product and supplier data for business benefit.
- Liaise with buyers, suppliers, and accounts to resolve supplier invoice and cost price queries efficiently.
- Complete supplier setup, including financial health checks, form completion, and accuracy verification.
- Perform additional ad-hoc administrative tasks as required.
- Represent the buying team to resolve issues promptly and accurately.
Requirements
- Matric 12 or above essential
- Educated to degree level or equivalent (desirable)
- Buying experience (desirable)
- A real passion for products, with a strong understanding of the retail market
