About the Role
The Junior Shift Coordinator role is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our fast-paced FMCG team in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our production operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our facilities, while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise production team to ensure daily targets, quality standards and output requirements are consistently achieved
- Coordinate and monitor production activities, ensuring optimal utilisation of equipment, raw materials, packaging and labour
- Ensure adherence to all food safety, quality and hygiene standards, including HACCP, GMP, CIP procedures and site-specific safety protocols
- Implement and support Lean methodologies to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance operational efficiency
- Conduct process monitoring and equipment checks to ensure smooth, uninterrupted production flow
- Review and interpret production performance data, including OEE, waste levels, throughput and quality deviations
- Maintain accurate production documentation
- Schedule work activities and allocate resources to meet production plans and customer requirements
- Oversee key HR functions within the production team
Requirements
- Grade 12 National Diploma in Food Technology or Production Certificate
- Diploma / National Certificate in Food and Beverage Packaging Operation Team Leader / Supervisory training (essential)
- 35 years experience in a supervisory role
- Knowledge of engineering / mechanical, material requirement planning, plant capacity and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), product and process specific knowledge
- Knowledge of microbiology, food safety legislation and cleaning processes
- Familiarity with quality systems, ISO standards and preventative maintenance
