About the Role
Apex Hotel Supplies, a leading wholesaler in food distribution, is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing commercial strategies, managing procurement and supplier relationships, and driving sales growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement category-specific commercial strategies aligned with company objectives
- Identify new market opportunities, product lines, and revenue streams
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and pricing dynamics
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local and international growers/suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply agreements
- Ensure consistent product quality, availability, and cost efficiency
- Work closely with sales teams to drive volume and margin growth
- Manage key accounts within retail, wholesale, and HORECA channels
- Support customer negotiations, tenders, and pricing strategies
- Oversee pricing models, margins, and cost structures
- Analyse sales and financial data to optimise profitability
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and category performance reporting
- Liaise with logistics and operations teams to ensure efficient supply chain flow
- Minimise waste, shrinkage, and stock losses
- Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards
- Lead and mentor the commercial/category team
- Drive performance, accountability, and collaboration across departments
Requirements
- Experience: 5–10+ years in fresh produce, FMCG, or agricultural commercial roles
- Proven experience in procurement, category management, or trading
- Strong background in fruit and vegetable markets (local & export preferred)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Agriculture, Supply Chain, or related field
