Centurion: Group Financial Manager

Job Description

A business with multiple moving parts requires a finance leader who can see the bigger picture while maintaining control of the details. An established and diversified group servicing the South African mining sector is seeking an experienced Group Financial Manager to take ownership of the finance function across multiple subsidiaries. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role offers the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making, strengthen financial controls, and partner closely with operational leaders to drive business performance. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys balancing financial leadership with operational involvement and commercial decision-making. Key Responsibilities Financial Management, Reporting & Forecasting Oversee the full finance function across multiple group entities Prepare consolidated management accounts and group financial reports Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes Manage group cash flow, working capital, and liquidity requirements Monitor project costing, production costs, and contract profitability Oversee fixed asset management, depreciation, and capital expenditure planning Drive month-end and year-end reporting processes across the group Financial Controls, Compliance & Risk Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax legislation, and statutory requirements Oversee VAT, PAYE, tax submissions, and regulatory reporting Implement and maintain financial controls, policies, and governance frameworks Act as the primary liaison for annual external audits Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks Manage insurance portfolios and assess associated financial exposures Leadership & Operational Support Lead, mentor, and develop finance teams across the group Partner with operational and commercial teams to support decision-making Drive system improvements and ERP optimisation initiatives Ensure efficient financial reporting processes and information flow Support business growth through strong financial leadership and commercial insight Job Experience and Skills Required BCom Accounting, Finance, or related qualification (non-negotiable) Completed articles (SAICA, SAIPA, or equivalent) Professional qualification such as CA(SA), CIMA, ASA, or similar advantageous Minimum 12 years’ finance experience At least 5 years in a management role Experience managing multiple entities or a group finance function Mining, mining contracting, engineering, or industrial sector exposure highly advantageous Strong budgeting, reporting, project costing, and cash flow management experience Advanced Excel proficiency Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel when required Key Competencies Strong leadership and people management skills Commercially astute with excellent analytical capability Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills High attention to detail and accountability Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Results-driven with a continuous improvement mindset This is more than a reporting role – it’s an opportunity to become a trusted business partner within a growing group where finance plays a central role in operational success.
